The Mandalorian Brothers and the Stolen Painting, Pt 3
Chapter 21: Escape of the ICE!
The Mandalorian Brothers couldn't pull the scroll out of the ice. It was stuck! So, they grabbed their infinity rope to squeeze the ice so it would break and they could grab the scroll. When they finally broke the ice and picked up the scroll, the ice started flying at them out of nowhere! The brothers had realized what had happened: there were invisible magnets in the ice that were attracting each other, causing them to move! So, Apollo grabbed a magnet from inside his backpack and threw it to another building. He hoped that this magnet would attract the others and make the ice move away from the Toranomon Hills rooftop. It worked, the ice started moving away! The brothers ran towards the rooftop elevator and made it into the elevator right when the doors were closing - just in time. The brothers were very tired and sat down to catch their breath and talk about what they would do. BabaFrank had an idea - they would drink their invisibility milk to become invisible so that no one would see them when they left the building. They also wanted to mind-control one of the janitors so that they could easily get past the guards at the entrance. They stopped at the 130th floor and walked out of the elevator.
Chapter 22: The Broken Airplane
The brothers walked towards the janitor and saw that he was still covered in bird poop. They mind-controlled him to go to the first floor of the building and tell the guard he was going home early because he had gotten dirty and needed to clean up. Then, the brothers followed the janitor to the elevator and all the way out the front door. No one noticed them! When they finally snuck outside, they threw a zipline out into the city, and it landed right on their golden airplane. Apollo and BabaFrank jumped onto the zipline and headed straight to the airport. But, the brothers had forgotten how strong the force would be. When they arrived at the airport, they were shocked to see that their plane was completely broken! Apollo stared at the plane. "Oh my gosh," he said.
"What in the world?" BabaFrank wondered out loud. There was nothing they could do to fix the plane, so they decided that they would need to find another way to get to their next destination. But first, they needed to know where they were going! The brothers opened the scroll and found a riddle: "You must go to the coldest state in the U.S," the scroll said. The brothers both knew that the coldest state was Alaska. Then, BabaFrank read the rest of the letter out loud and found some more instructions at the bottom of the page. The first instruction taught the brothers how to build a submarine. The second instruction said: "Now you have the power to make a fireball spell,"
"What?" Apollo asked.
"We don't know how to make one!" BabaFrank added.
Suddenly, a fireball magically appeared in Apollo's hand. BabaFrank pointed at it in disbelief. He told Apollo that he thought they should melt the fireball and freeze it into big chunks of gold. Then, the brothers could build a golden submarine for their trip to Alaska!
Chapter 23: The Submarine
Apollo and BabaFrank followed the instructions and started building a submarine. But, instead of using the materials (bronze) that the instructions said, they decided to use gold and spring steel. The first thing they built was the body of the submarine - the biggest part! It was made out of spring steel and had a big front door. The brothers also wanted it to be a mobile submarine, so they added some chairs, beds, tables, TVs, and plants to the inside of the submarine for decoration. They also added built-in lights to the top of the submarine. Next, the brothers created the cockpit - with dials, knobs, seats, switches, cushions, and gears. The Mandalorian Brothers also added radio antennas and a periscope, so that they could look around the ocean in case they got lost. Finally, Apollo worked on building the submarine's engine, and BabaFrank worked on the propeller. The engine was made of wood, and the propeller was made of spring steel. The brothers also made a spring steel cover that covered the gold engine. When he was done, Apollo went inside the submarine and started building some important gadgets - like swords, shields, and traps. It took the brothers a very long time to build the submarine just right.
Chapter 24: 2301 BedTime Stories
When the brothers were done building the submarine, they pushed it into the ocean. Then, they hopped onto it. The submarine was very nice, even though it had cost them $2,300 dollars to get all the supplies they needed. The brothers set up their radio antennas to communicate to the Alaskan dock (at Juneau) that they would need to open their dock and prepare for a submarine to arrive. The Alaskan workers said sure because they knew that the brothers were nice people. On their way, the brothers saw fishies, like sunfish and some tuna, and a coral reef or two. When it finally started to become dark outside, the brothers decided to tell each other some bedtime stories - about 2301 of them! The stories were about boxing matches, soccer players, basketball, and finding a shinguard at Red Morten Park (which I did!). The brothers stayed up till 12 o'clock telling each other these stories. But, even once they had finished telling stories, it still took them 3 hours to fall asleep, so they went to bed at 3 am! The brothers were exhausted and slept in until 3 pm! When they finally woke up, they re-read the scroll to see if they could find any more clues about what they were supposed to do in Alaska. When they accidentally turned the scroll upside down, they found another clue. It said: “you will find your next clue under a mound of snow.”
Chapter 25: The iPads
Suddenly, the submarine came to stop. The brothers looked out of the cockpit and saw that it had bumped into the dock! They quickly tried to get out of the submarine by throwing their ropes onto the spike on the moat (a good moat always has spikes to make sure that a thief cannot climb over too easily). Before the brothers climbed up, they connected their iPads to the moat and tried to erase the spike so that they wouldn't get spiked in the butt on their way up. Suddenly, the spike was gone! The brothers were very skilled and were able to lift themselves onto the dock. Once they were on land, they control "z-ed" on their iPads to bring back the spikes so that no one would even notice. The brothers then called the dock workers to let them know that they had landed safely. Apollo also asked them if they knew of any snow mound hills in the area. The workers told the brothers that there was actually a place called Snow Mound Hill (this is not a real place) nearby! Apollo and BabaFrank used their GPS to find the hill and started walking towards it.
Chapter 26: The Pokemon
The brothers were on their way to the Snow Mound hill when they noticed that the snow mound was not really a hill. It was just a bunch of snow mounds! Apollo and BabaFrank started digging at the top of each one and checking all of the places where they could find what they were looking for. Under one of the mounds, the brothers found a few lost squeaky toys, a magazine or two, and thirteen broken computers. They also found people's lost clothing and the silliest thing of all - plastic bags (which are bad for the environment)! After a while of digging, there were three big mounds left. Inside the first one, the brothers found something that was pretty surprising - Pikipek! Pikipek was a cool Pokemon with only one attack and one energy: rock smash. In the second mound, the brothers found Trumbeak, an evolved version of Pikipek. Trumbeak only had one attack, bullet seed, and had a retreat, a weakness (electric), and a resistance (rock). In the third and final mound, the brothers finally found what they were looking for: a chest. It wasn't a talking chest or anything, just a normal chest. Then, they heard a "ding dong DING!" It was the city bell! The brothers ran back to the city and saw that the moat had bent forward, letting water in! The brothers went closer to the moat to investigate and saw that a cruiser had parked too hard, which had caused the moat to tip over. The city bell kept ringing to warn people: DING DONG. DING DONG. The brothers ran back to the city and tried to help evacuate everyone to a safer place.
Chapter 27: The Moat
When the brothers got to the city, they were all sweaty and tired and realized that everyone had already evacuated. All they had to do now was straighten the moat! You know how they did that? They simply used their iPads and their select tool to straighten it out - it worked! The brothers also used their iPads to slowly bring in the cruiser and help it park correctly. And do you know why no one noticed the cruiser moving? The cruiser man had already started to move it, and he thought that he was the one moving the boat! But, it turns out that the cruiser was trying to make the boat go too fast, so the brothers had to try to slow it down! Once they were done and the cruiser was parked, they grabbed their bags and ran to grab the chest. Then, they rebuilt all of the snow mounds that they had ruined. They even hid inside one of them, hoping that they would not be noticed. The brothers tried to open the chest while they were in the mound but saw that they needed to enter a passcode to open it. The brothers came up with two possible passwords: the first was PTT and the second one was TTP. The brothers started trying PTT ...aaaaaand it didn't work. So then, the brothers tried putting in the code TTP, and the chest popped open! The brothers saw the Mona Lisa! OMG. But then, Apollo and BabaFrank noticed something behind the painting - a long, colorful beak.
Chapter 28: Toucannon
The brothers looked more closely and saw that the beak was black at the tip, and had some brown, orange, and yellow stripes on it. Then, Apollo noticed two blue and black claws. He pointed them out to BabaFrank, who noticed a brown spiked tail with a three-quarter oval on it. BabaFrank pointed the tail out to Apollo, who noticed a pair of dark blue eyes, staring at him. Apollo also saw the animal's blue eyelids, grey eyebrows, and black top. It was a Pokemon bird - its name was Toucannon! When Toucannon stood up from the treasure chest, Apollo saw that the bird had a white chest and a patch of bright yellow feathers. Apollo also knew that Toucannon had two attacks: the first was Echoed Voice and the second was Beak Blast (which could do 100 damage)! The Mandalorian Brothers were shocked. They said, “what in the world?” Then, they thought about trying to catch the Pokemon by using berries - they had some leftover berries in their bag from their trip to Toranomon Hills! Apollo had a strong berry in his backpack and BabaFrank had a gold berry (these are not real berries). They threw them at the Toucannon, who did not want to eat them at first. But, eventually, Toucannon knew that he was low on energy and needed to eat them.
Chapter 29: The Mona Lisa
Toucannon leaned over to eat the berries from the bottom of the chest, exposing his neck, so the brothers quickly threw a Pokeball at his neck to catch him. Now, the brothers could use the Toucannon in the rest of their bad guy battles. After a while, the brothers decided that they needed to talk to Toucannon. So, Apollo opened the Pokeball by throwing it onto the ground. Once Toucannon came out, the brothers pulled out their code hacker to ask him some questions.
First, BabaFrank said, "Were you the thief? Did you steal the Mona Lisa?"
Toucannon replied, "I guess you'll never know...."
The brothers looked at each other. They knew that Toucannon had stolen the painting. Then they said, "Really? Because we are about to open the chest and I think we’ll find out."
Apollo and BabaFrank knew that Toucannon was very hungry, and so they tried to persuade him with berries. They said, "If you tell us the truth, we will give you more berries."
Toucannon was soooo hungry and knew he had to say yes. Then, he kept his promise and explained everything: Quaz had stolen the painting and planned all the different clues. Toucannon had flown the chest to Alaska and then had followed the brothers around the world as they tried to find the painting. "Remember when a bird pooped on your head in Japan, Apollo?" Toucannon asked. "That was me! I had to go potty and I forgot to use the air bathroom. Sorry about that, by the way."
"It's alright," Apollo said. "But do you know why Quaz would do such a thing?"
"He said he did it for the money...so, I think there is probably a third person involved. I just don't know who it is."
Once the Mandalorian Brothers discovered the truth, they wanted to put Toucannon back inside the Pokeball. Toucannon refused but did not have enough energy to do his echoed voice, so he could not attack at all. The brothers knew this too, and they quickly decided to grab the Mona Lisa from the treasure chest. Then, they threw the Pokeball inside the chest and closed the chest shut and locked it, so that Toucannon could not get out!
